An internet sales job is quite often different than other 
jobs. There are people who can't understand that what we 
do is REAL work. Family support makes life easier when we 
decide to work at home. However, sometimes it just doesn't 
come easily with our e-territory.


The Recipe for Saving Your Sanity.........


Earning family respect for what you do can be a real chore. 
Mutual understanding, patience and cooperation will always
be a tremendous help. Sanity and Success don't come without 
a time price-tag. We invest in whatever it takes in time, 
effort and cash, to make these things and our family lives, 
work-out for us. What does this require? 


It's different for each of us because our income needs vary. 
Single parents with 2 or 3 kids, might not have the income 
that double wage-earners bring to the e-table. We really 
can't judge a book by an e-cover when it boils down to 
earning a living. 


If you've been around e-sales a while, you probably already 
know how to maintain and manage your primary accounts. If 
you're one of those salespeople who earn a living with 
e-skills, be on the look-out for the shoemaker's kids 
who go around without shoes. Neglect, drive and dedication 
are very different things. 


Take your "honey" to lunch - schedule key dates in advance. 
EACH year mark key dates to remember. You'll hardly ever 
have complete control over time, but your aim here is 
shooting for a "quality" of acceptable family time and 
in some instances, this can BE exceptional due to the 
flexibility that our e-sales-life, permits. Long working 
hours are not easy on anybody, no matter what kind of work 
you do. IS there such a thing as quality time if you're an 
internet home-worker? 


Quantity is probably what counts the most. If your financial 
life dictates that you must give your "all" for the company, 
do the best you can, to give equal time and quality
commitments to your family. Nothing is written in stone here 
BUT.......steady work is what feeds the family.

Flu Shots May Not Save Elderly A government study finds that
although more elderly are getting flu shots, flu-related deaths
in older people have not decreased since 1980. The research,
published February 14 in the Archives of Internal Medicine,
takes into account changes in the flu virus and the length of
the flu season, the Associated Press reported. In contrast to
this study, previous reports comparing death rates in
unvaccinated and vaccinated elderly people showed decreases in
winter deaths due to flu.

What Is the Doctor's Reaction?

This story doesn’t change my mind about the flu shot. It is
still beneficial for older people, particularly people with
heart disease, lung disease or diabetes, to get the flu shot.
While this story talks about whether or not the flu shot is
saving lives, it is important to recognize that the flu shot
also prevents very serious illness from influenza. 

From a public health standpoint, what this study says is that it
is not enough to vaccinate the group of people at highest risk
for serious illness and death from the flu. It may mean that the
group to immunize is children, who are most capable of catching
and spreading the flu. If you reduce the spread of the flu,
perhaps that will better protect the elderly and people with
chronic disease. 


What Changes Can I Make Now?

If you have not already received the flu shot, the vaccine stock
has been restored, so you can get one now and still receive
benefit. The following are the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention's recommendations for who should get the flu shot: 

First priority:

All children aged 6–23 months Adults aged 65 years and older
People aged 2–64 years with underlying chronic medical
conditions All women who will be pregnant during the influenza
season Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities
Children aged 6 months to 18 years who are on chronic aspirin
therapy Health care workers involved in direct patient care
Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children aged
less than 6 months Second priority:

Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of people in
high-risk groups (people older than 65 years; persons with
chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or lung
disease, or weakened immune systems because of illness or
medication; children younger than 2 years) All adults aged 50–64
years Take a minute right now to write a reminder on your
calendar to get the flu shot next fall. We usually recommend
starting to get vaccinated around October.


What Can I Expect Looking to the Future?

If you are a parent, expect stronger flu shot recommendations
for your children in the fall. This may or may not include the
nasal flu vaccine, one that is not recommended for older adults
or people with chronic illness because it contains some live
vaccine. Further study will focus on how vaccination of children
will affect the incidence and death rates from the flu. Don’t
expect the recommendations to change for people older than 65.
